SYMPTOMS

When you shut down a desktop computer that has a TV card, you may receive the following stop error on a blue screen:
STOP: 0x0000009F (0x00000002,0x81746650,0x817472B0,0x00000000)
DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE

CAUSE

The video capture device is based on Microsoft Windows Driver Model (WDM) streaming architecture. The video capture device also contains two child devices, the tuner and the crossbar. At shutdown time, the IRP_MJ_POWER handler for the Stream.sys driver does not call the PoStartNextPowerIrp routine for its child devices, and an error occurs.

RESOLUTION

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section. This problem was first corrected in Microsoft Windows 2000 Service Pack 4.
