MOM: "Unable to Verify DB Free Space, DAS Error" Error Messages When You Install Microsoft Operations Manager (812310)


The information in this article applies to:

SYMPTOMS

When you install Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM), you may receive two or more AKM Import error messages in the database. Although the error messages may vary in length, all of these error messages start with the following:
Unable to verify DB free space, DAS error. Error information has x rows and y columns.
If you click OK, Setup completes. However, no processing rules are imported as expected.

CAUSE

This issue may occur if the Boost SQL Server priority on Windows check box has been selected in Microsoft SQL Server for the MOM database.

WORKAROUND

Clear the Boost SQL Server priority on Windows check box in the MOM database. The installation will then complete successfully. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Start SQL Enterprise Manager.
  2. Locate the SQL Server computer, and then right-click Properties.
  3. Click the Processor tab.
  4. Click to clear the Boost SQL Server priority on Windows check box.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
