Error Message When You Try to Save a Report as an HTML File (812309)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Operations Manager 2000 Service Pack 1
SYMPTOMSWhen you try to save a report as an HTML file to the
Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM) Web console or when you run the batch file
that is created with the Report Wizard, MOM reporting may generate the
following error message: The section width is greater
than the page width, and there are no items in the additional space, so some
pages may be blank.
For example, the report width may be wider than
the page width. CAUSEThis problem occurs when you save a report as an HTML file.
When you do so, the reporting code performs a print test by using the
Test_Default_Printer report in Microsoft Access. If MOM Service Pack 1 (SP1) is
installed, this report is set to a page width of 9 or more inches. This default
width is what causes the report to fail. The batch file also tries to save the
report as an HTML file, so the same symptom occurs.
Note The view is correct when you view the report through the
Administrator Console because this check does not occur. WORKAROUND To work around this problem, reduce the page width for the
Test_Default_Printer:
- In the MOM Reporting Console, select File/Enter Design
mode. Design mode is only available if the full version of Access is installed.
If only the runtime is installed, you must install the full version.
- Under the Object table, click
Reports.
- In the Name table, click
Test_Default_Printer, and then click File/Page
Setup.
- Under Page Setup, click
Columns.
- The width under the column size has a value of 9+.
- Change this value to 5.
STATUS Microsoft
has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed
