Disabling shares in the Exchsrvr folder is not supported (812290)


The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 Enterprise Edition
  • Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 Standard Edition
  • Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server

SUMMARY

When you install Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 or Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server, Exchange creates three shares in the Exchsrvr folder. These shares are:
  • res
  • address
  • server_name.log

The shares that are listed in the "Summary" section of this article are integral to the design and performance of Exchange Server 2003 and Exchange 2000 Server. These shares make the following functions easier:
  • address proxy generation
  • language sharing between servers
  • message tracking
Microsoft does not support disabling sharing on these items.
