Slow to Connect to a Web Site that Uses SSL Through Proxy Server 2.0 (812079)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Proxy Server 2.0, when used with:
- Microsoft Windows NT Server 4.0
SYMPTOMSWhen you connect to a Web server that is running Secure
Sockets Layer (SSL) through Proxy Server 2.0, it may take a longer time than
you expect for the Web page to appear in your Web browser. For example, it may
take up to one minute for the page to appear. This behavior only occurs when
you view Web pages that are located on a secure Web server
(https).CAUSEThis issue may occur if your computer is not updated with
the latest service packs that are available for Proxy Server 2.0 and Windows NT
Server 4.0.RESOLUTIONTo resolve this issue, install Microsoft Windows NT 4.0
Service Pack 6a (SP6a), and then install Proxy Server 2.0 Service Pack 1 (SP1).
Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 6a must be installed on your computer before you
install Proxy Server 2.0 SP1. Make sure that you apply the service packs in
this order. Note If you did not install Windows NT 4.0 SP6a after you installed
Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 Option Pack, make sure that you install Windows NT 4.0
SP6a before you install Proxy Server 2.0 SP1. If you already installed Proxy
Server 2.0 SP1, then it is safe to install Windows NT 4.0 SP6a after you
install Proxy Server 2.0 SP1. For more information about the sequence
for installing Proxy Server 2.0 on a Windows NT 4.0 Server computer, visit the
