Pocket Inbox Does Not Work with Some Attachment Types and Header Formats (812038)

SYMPTOMS

When an e-mail message with an attachment is received by Microsoft Pocket Inbox from a POP3 e-mail service, Pocket Inbox may quit unexpectedly, or you may not be able to view the attached file. The symptom that occurs depends on the type of file that is attached and how the e-mail message header is formatted.

RESOLUTION

Pocket Inbox quits unexpectedly if an audio or JPEG file is attached to the e-mail message and if the message header does not include the file name of the attachment in the "Content-Type" MIME header field. Some e-mail client programs put the attachment file name in the "Content-Disposition" header field but leave the file name out of the "Content-Type" field. The hotfix that this article describes prevents the Pocket Inbox from quitting unexpectedly under these circumstances. However, you might still not be able to view the attachment.

Also, Pocket Inbox cannot show an MPEG attachment. Pocket Inbox does not correctly retrieve the attachment name for the video or MPEG content type from the "Content-Type" header. This hotfix updates Pocket Inbox so that the MPEG attachment file name is retrieved from the "Content-Type" header field.
