Site Deployment May Stop After Timeout Error (811545)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Content Management Server 2002

SYMPTOMS

When you use Site Deployment, a timeout error may occur before the utility completes execution, and the following appears in the event viewer application log:MCMS Site Deployment - Error occurred. System.Data.SqlClient.SqlError: Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server is not responding. No data corruption occurs. This problem is infrequent and may only apply to servers that are running both Microsoft Content Management Server (MCMS) and SQL Server at the same time.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because of time synchronization issues between Microsoft SQL Server and MCMS.
