COM+ 1.0 Cannot Install DLL Modules with COM Activities in DllMain (811373)


The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft COM+ 1.0, when used with:
    • the operating system: Microsoft Windows 2000

SYMPTOMS

When a dynamic-link library (DLL) module has CoCreateInstance activities in its DllMain function, COM+ cannot install the DLL, and the failure returns HRESULT 0x800401F0(-2147221008) - CoInitialize has not been called.

RESOLUTION

Service Pack Information

A supported fix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Windows 2000. This problem was first corrected in Microsoft Windows 2000 Service Pack 4.
