SNA Print Tracing May Show Wrong Printer Name (811352)

SYMPTOMS

When you review Host Integration Server 2000 Snaprint internal traces, you may notice that the incorrect printer name is used.

This occurs if the printer is a shared printer on the Host Integration Server itself. The following is an example of the trace:

AOpPr 3270 session: PrintTest
AOpPr   LU: LU7
AOpPr   Print to: printer (\\HISServer\PrinterName)
...
...
...
JSTAR DEVMODE:
JSTAR     device name: \\PrintServer\PrinterName

CAUSE

When you modify or add a new print session, the Host Integration Server does not perform validation on the print device. Nor does the Host Integration Server update the DEVMODE and the DEVNAMES structures that are carried in the configuration file unless you use the Print button on the MMC UI. The result is that the DEVMODE and the DEVNAMES structures are out of sync after the change. RESOLUTION

Service pack information
