Reduced System Performance with Canon Printer Software Installed (811345)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional
SYMPTOMSOn a Windows 2000-based system on which Canon printer
drivers and software are installed, you may experience reduced system
performance. For example, every action may take a long time to complete, or the
system may stop responding (hang). When you click the Process
tab in Task Manager, the MPSERVIC.EXE process may be using up
to 98 percent of the system resources. Additionally, you may be unable to
manually end this process. CAUSEThis issue may occur if the Canon printer drivers or
software are corrupted. The Mpservic.exe file is part of the Canon Multipass
Service.RESOLUTIONTo resolve this issue, remove all Canon software. To do
this:
- Click Start, and then click
Control Panel.
- Double-click Add or Remove
Programs.
- Select all Canon software that appears in the list, and
then click Remove.
- Reinstall the software for your Canon printer.
Note: You may have to start Windows in Safe mode to successfully
remove this software. For
