SYMPTOMS

When you start Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition, you may receive the following error message:
Unhandled Exception c0000005 at address: 100016b8
PromulGate Universal has encountered a problem and needs to close.

CAUSE

This issue is caused by the DelFin Media Viewer.

RESOLUTION

WARNING: If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that you can solve problems that result from using Registry Editor incorrectly. Use Registry Editor at your own risk. To resolve this issue, follow these steps:
  1. Remove DelFin Media Viewer from your computer according to the DelFin Media Viewer's manufacturer's instructions. For help with removing DelFin Media Viewer, contact the manufacturer, the DelFin Project, Inc. To do this, visit the following DelFin Web site:
  2. Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
  3. Locate the Run registry key in the following location: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion
  4. Delete the Pgmonitr.exe string value. It may also be listed as DelFin Media Viewer in the Run list.
  5. Quit Registry Editor.
  6. Restart your computer.
