XCCC: When You Try to Send a Video, You Do Not See the Video (811041)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft NetMeeting
- Microsoft Exchange
- Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server
SYMPTOMS When you use either of the following methods try to send
video, you may find that you do not see the video.
- Start Instant Messenger, and then click Start
NetMeeting or click Start Camera.
- Start NetMeeting, and then click Start
Video.
CAUSE This issue may occur if all the following are true:
- You are logged on to the computer with an account that does
not have administrator credentials.
- You have never before used NetMeeting to send video on the
computer.
- You are using Microsoft Windows 2000
Professional.
The behavior occurs because in Windows 2000, administrator
credentials are required for NetMeeting to successfully complete Setup. MSN
Messenger and Exchange Instant Messaging Client both use NetMeeting to send
video. If you are logged on using user or guest credentials,
NetMeeting does not have the appropriate rights to access and write to the
registry. You must be registered as an administrator or use an administrator
account to install NetMeeting correctly on a computer that is running Windows
2000. WORKAROUNDTo work around this behavior, follow these steps:
- Log off the computer, and then log on to the computer as an
administrator.
- Start NetMeeting, and then click Send
Video.
NetMeeting will successfully create the required
registry keys. - Log off the computer, and then log on to the computer with
your user account.
- Start Instant Messenger or NetMeeting, and then send video.
