"Some SharePoint Portal Server Menu Items Could Not Be Found" Message Appears Repeatedly When You Run a Macro in Word 2000 (811020)

SYMPTOMSWhen you run a macro in Microsoft Word 2000 after you
install the Microsoft SharePoint Portal Server 2001 Service Pack 1 (SP1) client components on
your computer, you may receive the following message:Office Integration for SharePoint Portal Server
Some
SharePoint Portal Server menu items could not be found. Click Yes to restore
them or No to disable Office Integration. When you click Yes in the message dialog box to restore the menu items, the message reappears.
Additionally, CPU utilization for Winword.exe may increase significantly, and
Word 2000 may stop responding. CAUSEThis problem may occur if the macro contains code that
removes the SharePoint Portal Server menu items in Word 2000. In this situation, you receive a message that prompts you to restore the menu
items. However, the message is not processed correctly. As a result, the message does
not close as expected when you click Yes. RESOLUTIONHotfix InformationA supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next Microsoft SharePoint Portal Server 2001 service pack that contains this hotfix.
