OL2002: Some Recipient Names Appear Two Times When Resolved (810983)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Outlook 2002 Connector
SYMPTOMSIn Outlook 2002 Connector, when you either address an e-mail
message, a meeting request, or an appointment, or assign a task to a recipient
to whom you have already sent an item, the recipient's name resolves but may
appear two times in the To field.CAUSEThis behavior occurs if all the following conditions are
true:
- You typed the last name of the recipient first in the
To field.
- You have the Allow comma as separator
option turned on.
NOTE This behavior does not occur if you select the recipient from the
Address Book or type the recipient's first name into the To
field before you type the last name. RESOLUTIONTo resolve this issue, turn off the Allow comma as
address separator option. To do so:
- In Outlook 2002 Connector, click Tools,
and then clickOptions.
- On the Preferences tab, click
E-mail Options, and then click Advanced E-mail
Options.
- Click to clear the Allow comma as address
separator check box in the When sending a message
section.
- Click OK three times to close all open
windows.
STATUS This
behavior is by design.
