Windows Prompts You to Change Your Password Although No Password Was Configured (810877)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Windows XP Professional
SYMPTOMS After you upgrade to Windows XP Professional, you may
receive the following error message: Your password will
expire in a number days. Do you want to change it
now? You may receive this message although you have never used a
password. RESOLUTIONTo resolve this problem:
- Click Start, click Control
Panel, and then click User Accounts.
- Click your account name, and then click Create a
password.
- In the Type a new password and
Type the new password again to confirm boxes, type the
password for your account.
- Click Create a password.
- Note that this step is optional. If you want to remove the
password you just created:
- Restart your computer, and then log on to the computer
by using the new password.
- Click Start, click Control
Panel, and then click User Accounts.
- Click your user account, and then click Remove
the password.
