FIX: BizTalk Server Does Not Correctly Validate an S/MIME-Encoded Message (810828)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft BizTalk Server 2002

SYMPTOMS

BizTalk Server 2002 uses Collaboration Data Objects (CDO) and the COM version of the Cryptography API (CAPICOM) to validate Secure MIME (S/MIME) signatures. In certain circumstances, messages that are decrypted by using CDO do not contain a MIME-Version header that subsequently causes BizTalk Server to fail signature validation for S/MIME messages. To address the CDO MIME-Version header problem, you must install the hotfix that is described in the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article:

329627 XCLN: Unable to Validate S/MIME Message Using CDO

After you apply the CDO fix, you must then apply the BizTalk Server hotfix that is described in this article.
