Dxdiag.exe Does Not Report AGP Texture Acceleration (810772)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft DirectX 9.0 Runtime
- Microsoft DirectX 8.x Runtime
SYMPTOMSWhen you run the Microsoft Dxdiag.exe utility on a computer
that uses an NVIDIA GeForce 4-based video adapter, the Display
tab may report that AGP Texture Acceleration is not available, and
the button to enable AGP Texture Acceleration may be unavailable.CAUSE This issue may occur if either of the following conditions
exist:
- AGP is not enabled in your computer BIOS.
- Your video adapter driver does not respond to the
Dxdiag.exe query for AGP information.
RESOLUTIONTo resolve this issue, use one of the following methods. Enable AGP in Your Computer BIOSFor information about how to enable AGP in your computer BIOS,
view the documentation that is included with your computer. Obtain and Install the Latest Video Adapter DriverFor information about how to obtain and install the latest video
adapter driver, view the documentation that is included with your computer or
your video adapter.MORE INFORMATIONEven if Dxdiag.exe cannot detect AGP texture acceleration,
AGP texture acceleration may still be available. Some video adapter drivers
implement AGP texture acceleration and manage their own AGP heap memory, and do
not report it to the Microsoft DirectX runtime. Dxdiag.exe uses the GetAvailDriverMemory function to query the display driver. However, some video adapter
drivers do not respond to this query. For video adapter drivers that manage AGP
Texture Acceleration independent of DirectX, games are not affected by the
Dxdiag.exe failure to report the AGP Texture Acceleration
status.
