OL2002: "Provide Feedback with Sound" Feature Is Turned Off After You Open a PowerPoint Presentation in Internet Explorer (810377)

SYMPTOMS

The "Provide feedback with sound" feature in Outlook may turn off unexpectedly.

CAUSE

This problem may occur after you open a Microsoft PowerPoint presentation in Microsoft Internet Explorer.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, turn on the "Provide feedback with sound" feature in Outlook:
  1. On the Tools menu, click Options.
  2. Click the Other tab, and then click Advanced Options.
  3. In the Advanced Options dialog box, click to select the Provide feedback with sound check box, click OK, and then click OK.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

The Office Sounds add-in adds sounds to certain actions that you perform in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Outlook. For example, you hear sounds when you send e-mail messages, zoom in or zoom out, or work with toolbars, scroll bars, or dialog boxes. To download and install the Office Sounds add-in:
  1. Visit the following Microsoft Web site:
  2. Click Download Now.
  3. In the File Download box, click Save. In the Save As dialog box, specify a folder on your hard disk where you want to save the Sounds.exe file, and then click Save.
  4. Start Windows Explorer, and then open the folder in which you saved the Sounds.exe file.
  5. Double-click the Sounds.exe file.
  6. Follow the instructions in the Office Sounds Setup Wizard to install the Office Sounds add-in.
