This step-by-step article describes how to enable guest access to Microsoft Content Management Server (MCMS) in an environment where multiple MCMS servers use the same MCMS repository to deliver content without using a domain account as a guest account. In some scenarios, you may have to use the local computer account as a guest account and not a domain level account.

To enable the local guest account in a multi-server scenario:
  1. Create a local user on each MCMS 2002 computer with the same user name and password (for example, ComputerA\guestuser and ComputerB\guestuser).
  2. Run Site Manager on every MCMS 2002 computer and add the local guest user that you created in step 1 to the Subscribers group.
  3. Start the Server Configuration Application (SCA) site on the MCMS 2002 computer, and then set the guest account to localmachine\guestuser. Note that you must use the string localmachine instead of the name of the local computer because localmachine is an MCMS keyword.
