This article describes some of the various issues that you may experience with Windows Powered Smart Display and audio playback.

  • Windows Powered Smart Display audio does not work if a sound is playing on the host computer when you sign in.

    To resolve this issue, use one of the following methods:
    1. Turn off the audio program on the host computer, sign in to the Windows Powered Smart Display client, and then restart the audio program.
    2. Turn off the Fast User Switching tool.

  • "Bring Sound to Client Device" does not supercede "Leave on Audio" under the sound settings for Windows Powered Smart Display. The sound stays on the host computer if an audio program, such as Microsoft Windows Media Player, is playing the sound and if you click Bring sound to Client device for remote computer sounds.

    To resolve this issue, restart the audio program, and then redirect the sound to the Windows Powered Smart Display. Sound Blaster Audigy software does not work properly with Windows Powered Smart Display. You must download an updated version of the Audigy software.
