Smart Display: Installation Is Unsuccessful When the SSID Is Not Broadcasted (810285)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Windows Powered Smart Display
SYMPTOMSWhen you try to setup your Windows Powered Smart Display,
the Smart Display Setup Out Of Box Experience (OOBE) Wizard cannot detect your
Wireless Network host computer: Is your wireless network
set up? Setup did not detect a USB wireless network adapter. If you are using
an Wireless Access Point, make sure it is set up prior to installing Smart
Display, and then select Next to continue.
If you have a USB wireless
network adapter, select Cancel. Install your USB wireless network adapter, then
run Smart Display setup again. CAUSEThis issue occurs if your wireless network card does not
broadcast its Service Set Identifier (SSID). This may occur if you are using a
wireless access point network, which may trigger a failure in communications
between the host computer and Smart Display. This issue does not occur with a
computer-to-computer (ad hoc) wireless network.RESOLUTIONTo resolve this issue, configure the wireless access point
to broadcast its network name (SSID). See your wireless access point device's
documentation for information about how to enabling the device to broadcast its
SSID.
