XL2002:Text Box Control Hosted on a Worksheet Unexpectedly Truncates Text (810279)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Excel 2002 Service Pack 2 (SP-2)
- Microsoft Office XP Professional Service Pack 2 (SP-2)
- Microsoft Office XP Standard Service Pack 2 (SP-2)
SYMPTOMSWhen you print an Excel 2002 worksheet that contains
embedded text boxes, the text in the text boxes may be unexpectedly truncated.
However, when you view the worksheet in Print Preview, the text in the text
boxes may be truncated differently from the way that it is truncated in the
worksheet text boxes. For example:
- Click the View menu, point to
Toolbars, and then click Control
Toolbox.
- Click the Text Box control ("ab" appears
in it), and then click a location in the worksheet at which to add the text
box.
- Right-click the Text Box control, and then
click Properties. Set the Height value to
42 and the Width value to
264.
- Add the following example statement to the
Text or Value field in the Text
Box properties (include the beginning space character):
The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog and the cow jumped over the moon.
The Text Box control may display the following
when you view the worksheet. Note that the word "jumped" is truncated and the
remaining text is not wrapped: The quick brown fox
jumped over the lazy dog and the cow ju However, when you click Print Preview on the
File menu, the text may be wrapped in the text box, but with
the word "jumped" still truncated. WORKAROUND To work around these issues, re-create the Text
Box control by using the Text Box tool on the
Drawing toolbar.STATUS Microsoft
has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed
at the beginning of this article.
