SPX Connection Between the Client and the Server Drops when You Copy Large Files by Using Windows Explorer (810173)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server
- Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional
- Microsoft Windows 2000 Server
SYMPTOMSIf you have an SPX connection between an ICA (Independent
Computing Architecture) client and a Citrix MetaFrame Server, and you use
Windows Explorer to copy a file from a drive that is located on the ICA client
to a drive that is located on the Citrix Metaframe Server, you may lose the SPX
connection.CAUSEThis behavior may occur if the server begins to receive
packets that are the incorrect size. For example, during the file copy, the
packet sizes may start as 454 bytes. During the file transfer the server
receives a packet that should be 454 bytes but instead is 534 bytes. When the
server receives the 534-byte packet, later packets inherit that packet's byte
count. The packet byte count no longer matches the length of the actual data
that the server receives. The server recognizes the error and drops the
connection.STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the products listed at the
beginning of this artilcle.
