BUG: SNA Performance Monitor counters are unavailable through Terminal Services (810151)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Host Integration Server 2004
  • Microsoft Host Integration Server 2000
  • Microsoft SNA Server 4.0

SYMPTOMS

When you connect to a computer that is running Microsoft SNA Server 4.0, Microsoft Host Integration Server 2004, or Microsoft Host Integration Server 2000 through Terminal Services, the SNA performance counters are not listed when you use the Performance Monitor utility. Counters are listed as follows:
  • The COM Transaction Integrator (COMTI) and DRDA AR - LU6.2 counters are still listed if they are installed.
  • The SNA performance counters are listed correctly when you run the Performance Monitor utility directly on the system.

WORKAROUND

If Host Integration Server 2004 or Host Integration Server 2000 is installed on a computer that is running Microsoft Windows Server 2003, the SNA performance counters will be listed when you connect to the console session of the computer through Terminal Services. For example, you can use the following command-line command through Remote Desktop Connection to connect to the console session of a computer that is running Windows Server 2003:

mstsc /v:server /console

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
