HTTP-REFERER Is Incorrectly Set in Internet Explorer for Macintosh After an HTTP 302 Response (810061)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.2.x for Macintosh
- Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.1.x for Macintosh
- Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0.x for Macintosh
SUMMARYWhen Internet Explorer for Macintosh receives an HTTP 302 response
(Found Object Moved) from the server , the following GET request from Internet Explorer contains an incorrect value for the Referrer field. The value contains the URL for the
resource that provided the 302 response instead of the URL for the page that
provided the original request. STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
RESOLUTIONIf the server uses ASP pages, you can use "response.transfer" to
bypass responding with a 302 response. If you have control over both URLs, you can track
the referrer value in a cookie.
