DirectShow TV Receiver Programs May Stop Responding (810023)

SYMPTOMS

Some multiple-protocol encapsulated data streams may cause DirectShow TV receiver programs to stop responding (hang).

CAUSE

DirectShow graphs that receive digital television broadcasts can be configured to extract Internet Protocol (IP) data from the broadcast. Some sequences of broadcast IP data may cause the DirectShow graph to stop responding.

RESOLUTION

A supported fix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article.
