Multimedia Works: "If You Don't See a Movie Here..." (81425)

SUMMARY

Works for Windows, multimedia edition, versions 2.0 and 2.0a will display the following message in a text box when stepping through the "Using the Tutorial" tutorial. This message is not an error message, but a set of instructions on what to do if multimedia Works for Windows does not display a movie in later sections of the tutorial:
If you don't see a movie here, your computer may not have enough memory.

Try closing any open application, and then run the lesson again.

MORE INFORMATION

This message is misleading, because it leads you to believe that a movie should be played at this time. If it was an actual Windows error message, it would be displayed within a dialog box with an exclamation mark, similar to that shown on page 13 of the "Microsoft Windows User's Guide" for version 3.0.

Steps to Reproduce the Message

  1. Start the Tutorial.
  2. Choose Tutorial II, Starting With Works.
  3. Select How To Learn Works.
  4. Press PAGE DOWN until you reach the screen that displays a picture of a video camera with the message:

    The Multimedia Movie that follows gives you an overview of the tasks you'll learn in that lesson.

  5. Choose PAGE DOWN to go the next screen. A text box will appear with the message:
    If you don't see a movie here, your computer may not have enough memory.

    Try closing any open application, and then run the lesson again.
  6. Choose PAGE DOWN to move to the next screen. You will see that the text box disappears from the screen.
