- Microsoft Windows 2.11
- Microsoft Windows 3.0
This article was previously published under Q81231 SUMMARY
Incorrect settings for the Apple Laserwriter II NTX may result in
errors when you try to print.
The error "Offending command" may appear when printing from Windows
Paint or Windows Write if the printer is set to interactive mode. The
printer reboots if you try to print graphics files from Microsoft Word
versions 5.0 and 5.5 when the printer is in interactive mode.
MORE INFORMATION
To print without having these errors, set the printer to batch mode by
placing DIP switch #4 in the up position. Also, the printer should be
operating in its PostScript mode while using Windows. This is done by
setting DIP switch 3 in the up position. For more information on
setting the LaserWriter II NTX to batch mode, consult the Apple
LaserWriter II NTX manual.
With the printer in interactive mode, additional virtual memory for
the printer is required to print graphics images. When the available
virtual memory is exhausted, the printer reboots. Rather than adding
more memory to the printer, the printer may be set to batch mode.
