SUMMARY

Microsoft Works for MS-DOS provides a calculator function that is not included in Microsoft Works for Windows. However, it is possible to use the Microsoft Windows Calculator in Works.

Windows 3.0

To use the Windows 3.0 Calculator in Works for Windows, do the following:

  1. Open Calculator from the Accessories group in Program Manager.
  2. Run Works for Windows.
  3. To use the Calculator, press CTRL+ESC to display the Task List, select the Calculator, and click Switch To.
  4. Perform your calculations.
  5. To copy the figures from the Calculator, select Copy from the Edit menu, or press CTRL+INSERT.
  6. Press CTRL+ESC to display the Task List, select Microsoft Works and click Switch To.
  7. To paste the figures into your Works for Windows document, position the cursor and click Paste from the Edit menu, or press SHIFT+INSERT.
NOTE: If your Works for Windows program window is sized and positioned appropriately, Calculator can be minimized and accessed by double-clicking its icon.

Windows 95

To use the Windows 95 Calculator in Works, do the following:

  1. Click Start, point to Programs, point to Accessories, and then click Calculator.
  2. Run Works for Windows.
  3. To use the Calculator, press and hold down the ALT key while you press the TAB key (ALT+TAB) until you select the calculator; then, release the keys.
  4. Perform your calculations.
  5. To copy the figures from the Calculator, on the Edit menu, click Copy, or press CTRL+C.
  6. Press ALT+TAB until you highlight the calculator icon; then, release ATL+TAB.
  7. To paste the figures into your Works for Windows document, position the cursor and on the Edit menu, click Paste, or press CTRL+V.
NOTE: If your Works program window is sized and positioned appropriately, Calculator can be minimized and accessed by double-clicking its icon.
