In Microsoft Works for Windows, the error message
Header too tall: Reduce header margin or increase top margin settings.
Continue?
Footer Too Tall: Increase footer margin settings.
Continue?
appears under one of the three following conditions:
Works for Windows version 3.0:
- Too many lines of text have been entered for the header or footer,
causing it to overlap the text in the body of the document.
Solution for Header:
Increase the top margin and decrease the header margin
until the text can fit within the boundaries.
Solution for Footer:
Increase the bottom margin and increase the footer margin
until the text can fit within the boundaries.
NOTE: Unlike the header, the footer margin begins at the top of
the footer so this margin must be increased.
- The margins have been set in a way that does not allow enough room
between the header or footer and the body of the document.
Solution: From the File menu, choose Page Setup. Select the Margins
section.
To correct the Header:
Increase the top margin or decrease the header margin.
To correct the Footer:
Increase the bottom margin and increase the footer margin.
- The font size of the header or footer is too large for the room
allotted to it, causing it to overlap the text in the body of the
document.
Solution: Reduce the font size of the header or footer. If you are
using header and footer paragraphs, select the text in the paragraphs
and from the Format menu, choose Font & Style to change the font
size.
To change the font size in a standard header or footer, select the
paragraph mark at the end of the document before changing the font.
To see the paragraph, from the View menu, choose All Characters.
Works for Windows version 2.x:

File menu, choose Page Setup and Margins and follow the appropriate
step below.
Solution for Header:
Increase the top margin and decrease the header margin
until the text can fit within the boundaries.
Solution for Footer:
Increase the bottom margin and increase the footer margin
until the text can fit within the boundaries.
NOTE: The footer margin begins at the top of the footer so this
margin must be increased.
- The margins have been set in a way that does not allow enough room
between the header or footer and the body of the document.
Solution: From the File menu, choose Page Setup & Margins.
To correct the Header:
Increase the top margin or decrease the header margin.
To correct the Footer:
Increase the bottom margin and increase the footer margin.
- The font size of the header or footer is too large for the room
allotted to it, causing it to overlap the text in the body of the

Solution: Reduce the font size of the header or footer. If you are
using header and footer paragraphs, select the text in the
paragraphs and choose Font & Style from the Format menu to change
the font size. To change the font size in a standard header or
footer, select the paragraph mark at the end of the document before
changing the font. To see the paragraph mark, you may need to
