Works: Date Formulas Error in Documentation (80646)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Works 2.0
  • Microsoft Works 2.0a

This article was previously published under Q80646

SUMMARY

In the "Microsoft Works for Windows User's Guide," there is an error on page 376 of Appendix A, "Spreadsheet and Database Functions." The date formula example is incorrect because it uses double quotation marks instead of single quotation marks:

INCORRECT: ="3/29/89"-"10/30/60"

CORRECT: ='3/29/89'-'10/30/60'

MORE INFORMATION

If you type a date formula with double quotation marks, as in the incorrect example above, you will get the following error message:
Reference not valid or wrong operand type.
Choose the OK button and correct the formula to continue.

As an alternative to the date formula, the DATE function can be used:

=DATE(89,3,29)-DATE(60,10,30)
