Deleting the Recent File List in Works for Windows (78301)
This article was previously published under Q78301
SUMMARY
The File menu in Microsoft Works for Windows displays a list of the
last four accessed files. This file list can be manually deleted by
editing the MSWORKS.INI file located in the WINDOWS directory. There
is a section named [Recent File List] that contains the names of the
last four accessed Works for Windows files.
MORE INFORMATION
The [Recent File List] section can be deleted so that the list of
files will not be displayed in the File menu in Microsoft Works for
Windows. This section will be re-created by Works for Windows the next
time the program is started. The filenames will include the path to
the file. Entries in this section will look like as follows:
[Recent File List]
File1=B:\ADAM.WPS
File2=B:\BETH.WPS
File3=C:\MSWORKS\HARDWARE.WDB
File4=C:\MSWORKS\ACCOUNTS.WDB
The MSWORKS.INI file can be edited with any text editor, such as
Notepad. There is no way to permanently disable the display of the
most recently used files.
