Identical Payee and Account Names Fill in Transfer Information (78013)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Money 2004 Deluxe
- Microsoft Money 2003 Deluxe
This article was previously published under Q78013 SUMMARY If a payee name entered in the Payee field in Microsoft
Money is identical to an account name within the current file, AutoComplete
will automatically enter transfer information for that transaction.
For example, assume you have an account called TrueBank Visa and it's time to
pay your bill. If you enter a transaction in your checking account by giving it
a Payee of TrueBank Visa, AutoComplete will fill the Category field with the
word "Transfer" and the Subcategory field with the matching account name
"TrueBank Visa".
This only occurs if no previous transactions have
been entered with the same payee name. That is, if there is a transaction with
the same payee name, AutoComplete duplicates that transaction instead.
AutoComplete automatically copies information from a payee's most recent
transaction as soon as you enter a payee name you have used before.
This is an undocumented feature of Microsoft Money. It is for your convenience
because you will most likely be transferring funds to the TrueBank Visa account
if you are making a payment to the TrueBank Visa company.
