Handles on Multiple Selection Not Gray in EGA with Publisher (77591)

This article was previously published under Q77591

SUMMARY

On a computer equipped with a VGA or higher display system, the "handles" on a selected object are black, but if multiple objects are selected, the handles become gray. This is to indicate that resizing is not an option. On a computer running an EGA system, the handles on a multi-object selection will be black, the same as the handles on a single-object selection.

Note: Even though the handles are black at EGA resolution, it is still not possible to resize a multi-object selection.

MORE INFORMATION

This is a function of the Windows 3.0 EGA palette management. Using the VGA driver, the particular color requested for multi-object handles turns out to be gray. Using the EGA driver, the equivalent color is black.

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Publisher version 1.0. We are researching this problem and will post new information here as it becomes available.
