SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Publisher, when using mirrored guides, if you add pages and select Duplicate All Objects On The Page, the duplicated objects may not line up correctly with the layout guides on every other page.

WORKAROUND

On each page where things don't line up, select all the objects on the page and move them over. To select all items on the page, perform the following steps:
  1. Switch to full page view by choosing Full Page from the Page menu.
  2. Click the upper-left corner of the page.
  3. Holding down the left mouse button, move the cursor to the outer lower-right corner of the page to select all objects on the page.
  4. Release the mouse button and move the mouse to the center of the page. The Move cursor will appear.
  5. Holding down the left mouse button, move the entire selection to the desired location. (This is easier to do if Snap To Guides on the Options menu is selected.)

Steps to Reproduce Problem

  1. During page layout, choose Layout Guides from the Arrange menu (Layout menu in Publisher 1.0, 2.0).
  2. Select the Create Two Backgrounds With Mirrored Guides check box.
  3. Under Layout Guides, set Inside and Outside to different sizes (for example, .75 and .5 inches).
  4. From the Insert menu (Pages menu in Publisher 1.0, 2.0), choose Insert Pages, and select the Duplicate All Objects On The Page option button. This should duplicate all the frames, graphic objects, and drawing tool items on the newly inserted pages. However, on every other page, all the objects may be slightly out of alignment. Normally, all the objects are out of alignment by the amount that the inside and outside guides differ. (For example, if the inside layout guide is 1 inch, and the outside is .5 inches, the objects will be .5 inches out of alignment.)
Microsoft is researching this problem and will post new information here as it becomes available.
