SUMMARY

You cannot use a standard time format (for example, 00:10:00) to do a fill series in a Works spreadsheet or database. Instead, you must use its decimal equivalent (for example, .006944444).

MORE INFORMATION

To fill a series of time values in a database or spreadsheet, you must enter the decimal value equivalent of the time in the Fill Series "Step by:" box. Works will not allow you to enter a time formatted value. The following is a table of common incremental time values and decimal equivalents.

The same results and workarounds are needed if the Fill Series - Number option is used in Works 4.0, 4.5 and 4.5a for Windows 95.

If some other increment value is needed, enter the time value (for example, 00:06:00) and then change its format to general. This will give you the decimal equivalent.

Works 4.0, 4.5, and 4.5a

Works 4.0, 4.5, and 4.5a includes an AutoFill feature that allows Works to fill time as a series. Type at least the first 2 time entries, so Works knows what to use as the step value.

For example if you enter 0:10:00 in A1 and 0:20:00 in A2, select A1 and A2 and use the fill handle (at the bottom right of the selection) to drag down to subsequent cell, Works correctly places 0:30:00 in A3 (and following cells).
