SYMPTOMS

The sample code below produces the following internal compiler errors under MS-DOS and OS/2:

  • With FORTRAN 5.0
    fatal error F1001: Internal Compiler Error
    (compiler file '@(#)ctypes.c:1.11', line 448)
  • With FORTRAN 5.1

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a bug in the products listed above. This problem was corrected in FORTRAN PowerStation, version 1.0.

MORE INFORMATION

The following sample code can be used to demonstrate the problem.

Sample code

      subroutine test(a1, a2, a3)
      structure /x/
       integer x1
       integer x2
      end structure

      record /x/ a1, a2, a3

C Comment out the following line and the code compiles
      a1 = a3

C Add a line such as the following and the code compiles
C      write(*,*) a1.x1

C Place a label (e.g. 123) at the beginning of the following line or
C change the a3 to a1 and the code compiles
      a2 = a3

      return
      end
