Basic Doesn't Support Microsoft Advisor Help Library (71306)
This article was previously published under Q71306
SUMMARY
With the HELPMAKE.EXE utility, you can create your own QuickHelp
files. However you will need the Microsoft Advisor Help Library, which
provides routines to retrieve information from QuickHelp files, to
access these files from within your programs.
The Microsoft Advisor Help Library is available from the Microsoft
Information Center by calling (800) 426-9400.
QuickHelp files are used within the on-line help system of many
Microsoft products, such as in QB.EXE from Microsoft QuickBasic, in
QBX.EXE from Microsoft Basic Professional Development System (PDS),
and in Microsoft Programmer's WorkBench (PWB), and various utilities.
Some features of the Microsoft Advisor Help Library cannot be used
from a Microsoft Basic PDS (7.00 or 7.10) or QuickBasic (4.00, 4.00b,
or 4.50) program because some of the routines require pointer features
that are not available in Basic, such as passing a function pointer or
receiving a pointer as a return value.
