The message "NO CARRIER" appears on the communications screen in Microsoft Works when you attempt to connect to a remote host if the line is busy. If the modem has a speaker, the busy signal is heard when the attempt to connect is made.
Works pauses approximately 10 seconds after trying to connect before it issues the "NO CARRIER" message.
