This article was previously published under Q69521 SUMMARY
When you save a file from Microsoft Project for Windows with the
Save As command on the File menu, and the file already exists, an alert
box "Replace Existing filename?" appears. If you choose OK and then
again choose Save As from the File menu, the file is saved without
the alert box. This is different from Excel and Powerpoint, but
similar to Word for Windows.
Because the file has already been saved and you have not made any
changes to the filename in the Save As dialog box, the Save As command
works just like the Save command. Project seems to remember the last
filename it was saved as and assumes you want to save the same file.
