BUG: QuickBasic Can't Find: File Dialog Fails on System 6.0.7 (69113)

This article was previously published under Q69113

SYMPTOMS

If a QuickBasic (for Macintosh ) program attempts to OPEN, RUN, or CHAIN a filename that does not exist in the current or specified folder, a dialog box prompts you with "Can't find: <filename>. Would you like to look for it?". When you click OK, you can normally look for the file in other folders; however, under Macintosh System 6.0.7, if you select the target file's folder from the dialog box, the file's name will not properly display.

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a bug with Microsoft QuickBasic versions 1.00, 1.00a, and 1.00b for Macintosh only when running under Macintosh System version 6.0.7 and Finder (or MultiFinder) version 6.1.7. The problem does not occur on other System or Finder versions.

Microsoft is researching this problem and will post new information here as it becomes available.
