This article was previously published under Q59171 SYMPTOMS
When pasting graphics into a Word document, the resolution of the graphic
may diminish when the document is printed.
CAUSE
When pasting a graphic into a Microsoft Word document, PICT information is
pasted into the document, whereas the original graphic may have included
PostScript information. When the graphic is printed, the PostScript
information is missing, and therefore the graphic is not printed in full
resolution.
MORE INFORMATION
Some graphics applications support embedding PostScript code into the
graphic when the graphic is copied to the Apple clipboard. When the graphic
is printed from within Word, the PostScript information is sent to the
printer, assuming a PostScript printer is the selected printer. Because the
PostScript code is sent to the printer rather than just the PICT
information, the resolution of the graphic is maintained.
To determine if the graphics application you are using supports this
feature, contact the manufacturer of the graphics program.
