GET INFO Version Number Data Can Be Changed Using ResEdit (45949)
This article was previously published under Q45949
SUMMARY
This information applies to all Macintosh applications.
Prior to the System file Version 6.00, there was no version data
("vers" resource) available from the System Get Info command in the
File menu. Programs that were designed to run on earlier Systems
therefore did not include a version ("vers") resource. If you have
upgraded to System 6.00, you may want to create a resource that will
display the version data for a particular application.
The version data ("vers" resource) is typically a string that gives
the name, version number, and date of the application, but it can in
fact be any data at all. The resource ID of the version data is 0
(zero) by convention.
