PERT (Program Evaluation and Review Technique) is an event-oriented
method of controlling large- and small-scale projects. "Event-
oriented" means that events are represented as nodes or boxes, defined
and connected to show relationships. In the following theoretical PERT
chart, the lines represent the dependencies between each event:
********* *********
* Event *----------* Event *------------------------\
* 10 * * 20 * \
********* ********* \
\ *********
\ * Event *
\ * 50 *
\ *********
********* ********* |
* Event *---------------------* Event *-------|
* 40 * * 30 *
********* *********
Microsoft Project has the capability to display PERT Charts for tasks.
Additional entries may be created by dragging nodes into an open space or
by click Insert on the Edit menu and entering the correct information in
the fields within the new node.
