ENTX: Cannot Import Data from Palm Desktop 4.0 or Later (332196)

SYMPTOMS

If you try to import data from Palm Desktop 4.0 or later into Microsoft Entourage X, the import is canceled, and you receive the following error message:
Entourage did not finish importing your information. To import information later, click Import on the File menu.

CAUSE

Palm Desktop 4.0 software was released after Entourage X was released and uses a file format for its data that is not recognized by Entourage X.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, export your address data from Palm Desktop 4.0 as a tab-delimited text file. For instructions on how to export the address data as a tab-delimited file, see the Palm Desktop 4.0 documentation. After you have exported your address data as a tab-delimited text file, import your address data into Entourage X. To do so, follow these steps:
  1. On the File menu, click Import.
  2. Click Import information from a text file, and then click the arrow to continue.
  3. Click Import contacts from a tab- or comma-delimited text file, and then click the arrow to continue.
  4. Locate the tab-delimited text file that you exported, and then click Import.
  5. Correct any incorrect mapping information, and then click Import. You are prompted to save the mapping settings. You may want to save them for future use.
