BUG: Event Error 5107 When You Try to Save Partner2.xml (331894)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Passport 2.5
- Microsoft Passport Software Development Kit (SDK) 2.5
This article was previously published under Q331894 SYMPTOMSWhen you try to save
the Partner2.xml file to your local hard disk on a clean install of the operating system, event error 5107 is generated and you receive the following error message: Save of document
D:\WINNT\System32\MicrosoftPassport\partner2.xml failed with error = 0x80070005
(General access denied error) when trying to save the fetched file to
disk. CAUSEThis error occurs because the ASP.NET user account (the account
that ASP.NET runs under) does not have write permissions for the
folder where the Partner.xml file is located.RESOLUTIONTo resolve this problem, add
the ASP.NET user account to the Access Control List (ACL), and then grant write
permissions for the correct folder. STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a bug in the Microsoft
products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
