X-headers are assigned the same value instead of expected distinct values when you send an Internet e-mail message from an Exchange Server 5.5 computer (331583)

SYMPTOMS

You are using a MAPI program that sets properties in the PS_INTERNET_HEADERS namespace. You expect the properties to be converted to custom X-headers when you send an outgoing Internet e-mail message through your Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5 computer. However, the conversion does not occur as expected. All the X-headers are assigned the same value, instead of being assigned distinct values.

CAUSE

When two or more custom Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) headers are set on an outgoing message by using Extended MAPI, the value of the first custom header overwrites the values of the subsequent custom X-headers.

RESOLUTION

Prerequisites

To install this hotfix, you must be running Exchange Server 5.5 Service Pack 4.

Restart requirement

You do not have to restart your computer after you apply this hotfix. However, the Microsoft Exchange Information Store and all dependent services are automatically stopped and restarted during the installation process.

This hotfix does not replace any other hotfixes.
