SYMPTOMS
If you are using a slow connection (such as a remote access or virtual private network [VPN] connection), nothing may be sent to the server if you set the
Tcp1323Opts
registry value to 3 on the client. The following behavior occurs
when a TCP session is established between the client and the server (the Web service is running on the
VPN server, and the VPN client visits the Web site on the VPN server):
Client sends to server: SYN, with Timestamps option
Server
sends to client: ACK, SYN, without Timestamps option
Client sends to
server: ACK, without Timestamps option
Server sends to client: ACK, with
Timestamps option
Client sends to server: ACK, without Timestamps
option
Client sends to server: ACK, without Timestamps option
Server
sends to client: ACK, with Timestamps option
...
The first
packet that is sent by the client does have the Timestamps option, but the others do not. The first packet that is sent by the server does not have the
Timestamps option, but the others do.
