BUG: NullReferenceException Error When You Create a New Page (330823)

SYMPTOMS

If you use tree view to select templates when you create a new page in the Web Client interface, you cannot see the available templates that you have rights to.

CAUSE

You do not have rights to the parent template gallery. As a result, you cannot expand the parent template gallery, so you cannot see the child template gallery.

RESOLUTION

Use list mode instead of tree view.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a bug in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

Steps to Reproduce the Behavior

  1. Log on to Site Manager as a Microsoft Content Management Server (MCMS) administrator.
  2. Create a new channel manager rights group and assign a user (for example, CM1) to the group.
  3. Assign rights for template galleries to that group as follows:NOTE: X means that the check box is cleared, and Y means that the check box is selected.
    X Templates
       X WoodgroveNet
          Y About Us Net
    					
  4. Load WoodgroveNet (http://localhost/WoodgroveNet) and log on as CM1.
  5. Switch to edit mode, and then click Create New Page.
  6. On the template selection page, select View as Tree.
  7. Expand WoodgroveNet.
