FIX: Cannot Open Visual Studio .NET, Site Manager, and Web Author After You Change Authoring Entry Point with the SCA (330813)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Content Management Server 2002
This article was previously published under Q330813 SYMPTOMS
When you change the only authoring entry point on the Web tab in the Server Configuration Application (SCA), the SCA does not update the shortcuts for Microsoft Visual Studio .NET, Site Manager, and Web Author on the Start menu.
CAUSE
The SCA does not update the XML file in the DevTools folder.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, update the XML file manually:
- Open the Developertools.xml file that is located in the <CMS2002_Root>/DevTools folder.
- In lines 3, 6, and 44, change the server reference from "http://localhost:80/" to the new Web entry point.
NOTE: Line 5 contains a reference for the SCA, so you do not have to change it. - If a shortcut exists, click Start, and then locate the shortcut in the Programs folder.
- Locate the shortcut on the desktop.
- Change the target field in the shortcut properties so that it points to the new Web entry.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
